Southern Coastal Maine is the essence of beauty. It's speckled with 65 lighthouses along a breathtaking ocean view.
Portland offers lots of shopping, eateries and bars, while other coastal towns like Ogunquit, Boothbay Harbor, Old Orchard Beach and York offer a small town feel with a relaxing atmosphere.
Kennebunkport is a destination in itself, offering beautiful sites, shopping, eateries and of course a visit to the Bush compound.
On our last trip to Maine, we stayed on Great Diamond Island at the Inn at Diamond Cove. This tranquil destination is peaceful and relaxing. The Inn was originally constructed in the 1890s as part of Fort McKinley, the country's coastal defense system to protect Portland's Harbor and Casco Bay. This place is very charming. The staff was wonderful, the food was great, and meeting other guests by the nightly campfire was a lot of fun. The beauty of the sunrises and sunsets were amazing. This is a great place to take your family or as a couple's getaway.
